Further Information

Matt Farr is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland. He currently works on the project The Causal Power of Information in a Quantum World, as part of which he researches on the metaphysics and epistemology of causation within quantum mechanics. From 2013-2014, Matt was a postdoc at the Centre for Time, University of Sydney, where he worked on the arrow of time and the relationship between the physics and psychology of time.

Previously, Matt was awarded a PhD in Philosophy by the University of Bristol for his thesis “Towards a C Theory of Time”. Matt’s research was supported by awards from the Royal Institute of Philosophy and the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Research Interests

Matt's research interests are in metaphysics (time, causation, modality), philosophy of science (explanation, realism, causal inference), and foundations of physics (interpretation of quantum mechanics, time symmetry). His current work focuses on the relationship between time direction, causation and agency.
