Epistemic Norms and Counterfactual Conditionals

For a variety of reasons, it seems promising to formulate epistemic norms in terms of narrow-scope permissions, for instance, as the claim that p is true if and only if I'm permitted to believe p. Recently, such formulations of epistemic norms have been claimed to be subject to a variety of counterexamples. I argue that the counterexamples can be diffused if epistemic norms are re-formulated as counterfactual conditionals.
