Title:
Refined Deviancy for Factual Difference-Making
Abstract:
In this talk, we improve upon Andreas and Günther’s (2025) analysis of causation in terms of factual difference-making by refining its deviancy condition. The refinement is based on a distinction between an inferential notion of deviancy and weak deviancy. We show that the refined analysis is the first to solve a certain set of causal scenarios. If time permits, we extend our refined analysis to cover causal judgments of graded causation.
