Detlef Dürr Passed Away

05.01.2021

It is with great sadness to report the death of Detlef Dürr. Detlef was a professor of mathematics at the LMU until his retirement and an external member of the MCMP. He is most well-known for his contributions to Bohmian Mechanics, which be pioneered with his longterm collaborators Sheldon Goldstein (Rutgers) and Nino Zanghi (Genova). Detlef also made important contributions to the foundations of statistical physics, non-equilibrium statistical mechanics and shape space dynamics. He was a wonderful man and his death is a great loss for the foundations of physics community in the world and in particular in Munich.
