Ivano will be leading a young researcher group on New Territories for Modal Logic funded by the DFG. Inquisitive semantics is a new semantic framework which allows for a unified analysis of statements and questions. Building on this foundation, the project will build a new framework for modal logic which extends the classical one by encompassing modalities that apply to questions. This will allow us to logically analyze a variety of interesting question-oriented modal notions in different sub-domains of modal logic: alethic, epistemic, deontic, temporal, etc. In addition, the ideas developed in the framework will be used to study more closely some logical features of natural language modals which have long been puzzling for accounts based on standard modal logic.
