JOBS: Two Postdoctoral Positions in Philosophy of Mathematics

24.12.2014

Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich is seeking applications for

Two Postdoctoral Positions in Philosophy of Mathematics
(for two years)

at the Chair of Logic and Philosophy of Language (Professor Hannes Leitgeb) and the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) at the Faculty of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science and Study of Religion. The positions, which are to start from April 1st 2015, are for two years.

One of the two positions is a full-time position that will be devoted to the topic "Mathematical Structuralism". The other one is a half-time (50%) position that will be devoted to the topic "Theoretical Terms in Science vs. Mathematical Terms". Both positions belong to an ANR-DFG project on "Mathematics: Objectivity by Representation". More about the project can be found at the project's website.

Each appointee will be expected to do philosophical research in the respective project area and to participate in the organisation of the project. Each successful candidate will have a PhD in philosophy or logic.

Women are currently underrepresented in the Faculty, therefore we particularly welcome applications for this post from suitably qualified female candidates. Furthermore, given equal qualification, severely physically challenged individuals will be preferred.

Applications (including CV, certificates, list of publications, list of courses taught, one writing sample, a description of a planned research project of max. 3 pages) should be sent either by email (ideally within one PDF document) or by mail to
