NOW ONLINE: Female Summer School on Mathematical Philosophy 2021
This year’s Summer School on Mathematical Philosophy for Female Students at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) will be held from 19.07.2021 – 23.07.2021 - entirely online!
The summer school is open to excellent female students who want to specialise in mathematical philosophy. The school’s aim is to encourage female students to engage with mathematical and scientific approaches to philosophical problems, and thereby help to redress the gender imbalance in formal philosophy. It offers the opportunity for study in an informal and interdisciplinary setting, for lively debate, and for the development of a network of students and professors interested in the application of formal methods to philosophy.
The topics for the lecture streams this year are:
- Suspension of Belief. Its Nature, Rationality and Logic led by Alexandra Zinke (University of Tübingen)
- Emergence and Reduction in Science led by Patricia Palacios (University of Salzburg/MCMP)
In addition, we will have talks by members of the MCMP, student presentation sessions and poster forum, and social events.
The language of all events will be English.
To participate, please fill out the online application form. You will need to provide a statement of purpose as part of the application. There will be an opportunity for some students to present their own research in the form of a 15 minute talk. If you would like to present, please also provide an abstract (up to 500 words) with your application. All students at the summer school are encouraged to participate in the poster forum.
