Daniel Schoch has studied Physics and obtained a PhD in Philosophy on theory choice in 1994 from Frankfurt University under the supervision of Prof. Wilhelm K. Essler. He was co-recipient of the 1997 Stegmüller Award for his PhD and was awarded the 2007 Lauener Prize for Up-and-coming Philosophers for his interdisciplinary work. He worked as assistant professor at Saarbrücken University from 2000-2006 and as lecturer in economics at several Asian universities, among them Nottingham University Malaysia, and until 2023 as associate professor of economics in the UAE. His research interests are: Mathematical Philosophy of Science, Classical and Bayesian Epistemology, Decision Theory, and Behavioural Economics, in particular Behavioural Finance.
